We want to keep you as informed as possible, with regards to our discussions here at Nonsuch Forest School.
Little Oaks Forest School and Nonsuch Park Forest School is Now OPEN.
We know that some of you will be feeling very anxious about returning to nursery and it is very important that we keep you well informed and updated of the changes we have now implemented to ensure we are keeping the children and staff team safe.
Since lockdown began, we have been extremely lucky with the weather and I am sure you have all been out and about when you can to explore, walking, cycling and dog walking. In the past few weeks, we have been delighted to see some of you walk past the nursery school and say hello. During this time, we have been terribly busy at nursery school, we have been re organising and re-decorating. We have built a new staff room, re-shelved our storeroom, and tended to our lawn which looks green and bouncy! We have undertaken a full deep clean including all surfaces, carpets, and mats.
Following the Government announcement for providers to reopen Early Years provision we have been meeting regularly to plan the best way forward, so that our children can come back and enjoy our wonderful outdoor Forest School provision. The main priority for us at nursery school is to ensure the health and safety of everyone and we are extremely lucky to be situated in the park where outdoor learning can take place and not be limited by indoor restriction.
As a team we have been working hard on strategies to meet the Governments latest guidance and have been looking at the best way that we can accomplish this while carefully deciding what extra measures and rules we will require everyone to follow.
We appreciate that everyone will have different anxieties and concerns and we will do our utmost to alleviate all of these. Our new policies and procedures do follow government and Early Years guidance which you can access via the following links listed below.
We are also open to any thoughts or ideas you may have that would benefit the nursery school. So we would like to give you as much information as possible about our new way of working.
All Early Year’s providers have been asked to separate children into new smaller groups which are called learning bubbles. Learning bubbles will work well for us because of the unlimited amount of space that we have around us. We can create smaller groups within our current learning groups that are already established. Most of our children wishing to return to nursery school we have organised our register so that children who attend AM sessions will stay together with the same members of staff and our all day children will remain together again with the same staff members. These learning bubbles will function separately for drop off and collection times, different locations which be utilised which will include both the nursery school and a designated area within the park. Our breakfast, snack and lunch times and forest school sessions will all run separately.
Like before, we will keep the footfall within the setting to a minimum and ask that you do not come into the premises at drop off and pick up times. We understand this may be a little upsetting for some children, but we aim to welcome and reassure children as quickly as possible on arrival.
As much as possible we will be reducing the amount of contact the children will have with different adults in nursery school, as well as ensuring small numbers in their groups. There will be a high focus on maintaining hygiene in the school - regular washing of hands, disinfecting the work areas as well as catch it, bin it, and kill it for any sneezes and coughing.
As parents, we are asking you to prepare your children before they arrive back in nursery school so that they are as prepared as possible. The children need to know that school will not be exactly the same as it was in March, but it will still be lots of fun and they will see their friends. It is possible that their teacher may change if they are unable to come in, some staff, as I am sure you will appreciate, are unable to return to nursery school at this time due to their own personal circumstances.
If your child is due to start over the Summer Term or in September, your child’s space is of course guaranteed and we will be in contact with you when we have more definitive Government advice on the nursery reopening.
At the moment, our main priority is to get the nursery schools, staff, parents and children through the difficult months ahead along with our new ways of working. If your child is currently attending our nursery, please ensure that you use the Famly App to stay in touch.
Throughout the time we have been closed, our Famly App was used to share our daily LOFS Art Gallery where parents kept in touch with our nursery community to share ideas and creations together, this was a very popular daily page. We will continue to use the Famly App to keep those of you choosing not to come back to nursery at this momnet in time updated of any changes, including alerts and important notices.
If you are enquiring regarding a place for your child or to view our nursery, we are unable to offer any tours of the nursery school, once we have a planned open day this will be shown on our website.
If you need to contact us directly in the meantime please email us on, firstname.lastname@example.org.
